Pamela Bedore

Pamela Bedore is an Associate Professor of English at UConn’s Avery Point campus, where she teaches courses in American Literature and Popular Culture. She is also Writing Coordinator for the Avery Point campus, a role that allows her to work closely with other faculty in preparing First-Year Writing and W courses, to mentor undergraduate writing tutors, and to act as campus liaison for creative writing. Pam is also the faculty advisor for English majors at Avery Point. Her door is always open, so students interested in writing or literature should always feel free to drop by.

Pam’s research covers several areas of popular culture. She is the author of Dime Novels and the Roots of American Detective Fiction (Palgrave, 2013) and the book review editor Clues: A Journal for Detection. She has published articles on detective fiction, science fiction, and writing program administration, and is currently working on a project concerning utopian and dystopian literature. She regularly supervises graduate and undergraduate independent studies and internships in various areas of popular culture, gender theory, and genre theory.
